Plantation Island, Fiji

This was our second time to Fiji and it was a very different experience to our first. A few years back we stayed in Pacific Harbor for a week full of adventure. This time round we were taking our little babe and my sister so we decided to relax resort style on Plantation Island. If you have seen a postcard from Fiji it was probably taken in the Mamanuca Islands and with good reason.

Fast Five Favourites:

  • Plantation Island Resort. Everything was so convenient with everything you want in a relaxing holiday. The staff were incredible. They always had a friendly smile and were great with Lilah.
  • There were other resorts on the island you could visit for a massage, restaurants and pools. We enjoyed hiring a bike from Bula bikes to explore further from our room.
  • Cloud 9-Fiji's floating paradise. Swim, snorkel, sunbathe, drink and eat in the middle of a turquoise lagoon. Lush!
  • Kids Club-we didn't actually need to use the kids club as we had Aunty Kaitlin with us but we loved the concerts they put on each night and we took Lilah to play in there too. The kids were having so much fun. The island is perfect for children. You can hire babysitters too.
  • The beach! So bloody beautiful.

Tips:

  • Take snacks. The food on the island is quite expensive although you can find cheaper options. We would have liked to have a few snacks on board.
  • Plan for some time to visit the nearby islands.
  • Plantation Island is about an hour from Port Denarau which is about a 20-30min drive from Nadi International Airport. Our flight connection times worked well but it is common that people spend a night or longer in Denarau as a transition.
  • Do not miss out on going to Cloud 9! There were a few kids there but we didn't take Lilah. It was a bar and people were getting very merry.

Baby on Board:

  • You will find everything you need and more here to keep bubs and kiddos entertained. Swim diapers and wipes etc are expensive so bring plenty with you.
